Charitable Work

Sabrina’s goal is to continue the success and goodwill of the family business by using the education and experience she has gained and the lessons her parents have instilled in her. She feels joy when she is able to give back to the community and help those who are less fortunate. She is actively involved as a Director in her family’s charitable organization, The Vincent HoSang Family Foundation (VHFF), which was established in 2002. To name a few major contributions:

  • Six full scholarships were given to six students totaling US$150,000, for the entrepreneurial program at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
  • In 2005, VHFF donated a fully-equipped mobile health clinic worth US$180,000 to Dr. Roy Streete of the Organization for International Development (OID) for the people in Jamaica. Dr. Streete and his team provide free dental and medical services to the less fortunate.
  • VHFF donated US$250,000 to Father Ho Lung of Missionaries of the Poor to build a chapel in Jamaica.
  • Caribbean Food Delights serve over 4,000 meals to over 400 student athletes at the Penn Relays which they’ve been doing every April since 1997.

Through Caribbean Food Delights (CFD), Sabrina and her family give back to the community in many ways. To name a few:

  • Every year, CFD co-sponsor the Bronx Little League Baseball team which provides a meaningful and healthy activity for the children in the summer.
  • Since 1997, they have co-sponsored the Mini Grand Prix races in Mount Vernon, New York for ten years which helps provide summer jobs for the youth.
  • In 2004, a donation of $5000 was given towards Hurricane Dean relief fund.
  • In 2005, assistance was given to 20 Jamaicans who were affected by Hurricane Rita in Texas by donating $5000.00.
  • In 2008, the company donated clothes, shoes, food, toiletries and money to Haiti for their Hurricane relief efforts
  • Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, donations of food worth over $65,000 to the Food Bank in New York City is given

Personally Sabrina has been doing her own philanthropic work:

  • A member of Organization for International Development (OID) where she does volunteer work through the medical bus her family donated to Dr. Roy Streete, Chairman of OID. OID is a 501(c)3 non-profit, non-political volunteer organization formed in 1990. Their mission is to provide quality diagnosis, treatment and preventative health education to the impoverished as a means to improve the quality of their lives and social well-being.
  • Since 2003, Sabrina has been sponsoring two young children in the deprived areas in Honduras and Indonesia, via World Vision providing them an education, clean water and food.
  • She went on a mission trip in August 2009 with the Church of God of Prophecy to support the Voice of the Children of Haiti. She has been supporting the organization since 2007 by collecting donations (clothes, toys, medicine, etc.) for the people in Haiti and donating financially every year.
  • Every year, she donates clothes to the Salvation Army
  • Every Christmas, toys are donated for children
  • Volunteer on mission trips at soup kitchens and nursing homes
  • A board member for Heartbeats of the World, an organization whose mission is to enrich the lives of woman, adolescents, and children in under-served areas of the world by providing medical resources and educational opportunities which address the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, teen pregnancy and unemployment.
  • Sabrina is a member of MENTOR/National Mentoring Partnership which has been working to expand the world of quality mentoring. MENTOR works with a strong network of state and local Mentoring Partnerships to leverage resources and provide the support and tools that mentoring organizations need to effectively serve young people in their communities.

As you can see, the company that Sabrina works for gives back to the community in many ways. For every dollar that is spent on Caribbean Food Delights’ products and its affiliates, a portion of that goes towards charities, helping the less fortunate and funding educational programs for the youth.
